Date: 27th Mar 2020 @ 9:52am

Real PE at home – online learning resources

real PE at home includes an online programme which supports families to be active, play and learn together. It includes a programme specifically for children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 with 12 themes, 6 areas, over 250 activities and challenges and 1000s of hours of fun and activity. This programme is also great for family play and fun.

It also includes a programme for children in Key Stage 2, with daily and weekly guidance provided for both programmes (starting from next week) in addition to an option to choose your own themes and activities.

There are so many benefits to being active, not only to our physical wellbeing but also to our emotional and mental health, especially in such testing times for all of us. We hope that the ideas help support you and your family to stay fit and healthy in the coming months. Here are the details to access real PE at home:

The daily and weekly guidance will officially go live on Monday but you can still explore and go on your own adventure over the weekend if you wish. Even more content will be added over the next couple of weeks too!

St Mary’s and Coronavirus 18/03/2020, by Miss Eamens

Date: 18th Mar 2020 @ 6:30pm

We have now moved to a position where we have been directed by the Government to close for an indefinite period from 3.15pm on Friday 20th March 2020 due to the effects of Covid 19.

We have started to build up some home learning resources for you and your child to help and support you in keeping to a focussed learning routine. Further details will follow.

On behalf of the Governing Body and the whole school team I would like to offer our sincere thanks to all our families who have continued to give us their full support and place their trust in us, particularly in these demanding and challenging times.   Whilst we will not be able to celebrate Easter this year in the traditional way,
I am sure that we will continue to support and pray for all members of our school community and look forward to the time when we can return to a position of stability.

Coronvirus - Further Changes 17.03.2020, by Miss Eamens

Date: 18th Mar 2020 @ 10:43am

As you are aware from my previous letter, we are in unprecedented times. The government’s guidance on the coronavirus changed from the ‘contain’ phase to one of delaying the spread of the virus. The daily changing landscape requires swift action and responses, whilst at the same time balancing health advice and a growing parental concern around the spread of the virus within and beyond our school community. Please keep updated by visiting our school website.

As a result of the advice yesterday around social distancing, we are having to review and consider any gatherings and activities within and beyond our core offer. Whilst we appreciate that these decisions impact on the children, I am also confident that you will acknowledge that this decision has been taken to minimise the risk to your child of coming into contact with the coronavirus. We have also cancelled any non-urgent meetings held in school and are limiting who does and does not come onto the site on a daily basis.

We will let you know when events and activities have been re-scheduled. Thank you in advance for your understanding and continued support. We will continue to respond to advice and guidance.

Please find below a table of the changes so far with effect from Wednesday 18th March 2020.

St Mary's and Coronavirus - Update 13.03.2020, by Miss Eamens

Date: 13th Mar 2020 @ 4:14pm

Coronavirus Information Update

The government has provided the following advice:

  • There is NO NEED to close schools at the moment.

"The scientific advice is that this could do more harm than good at this time - but of course we are keeping this under review and this again may change as the disease spreads."

  • Anyone with a "new, continuous" cough or high temperature is now advised to self-isolate for seven days, as the UK government moves to the "delay" phase of its plan to tackle coronavirus.
  • People with symptoms are no longer required to call NHS 111, as the system is under strain. Instead you are urged to look for information on the NHS Website and 111 online.
  •  The link below takes you to detailed ‘Stay at home guidance’:

The link guidance above has clear headings showing the critical symptoms, testing, what to do when self-isolating, impact on other home users and ending self-isolation.
